I'd like to clarify that the Subaru F1 engine came before Subaru's dominant run in the World Rally Championship in the 1990s. The way the video was laid out made it seem the other way around.

What other crazy engines would you add to the list? 👀

What about the 12 rotor engine currently being rebuilt by Rob Dahm?

Should have covered Honda's V5, used in MotoGP
It used a 75.5° bank angle and the rod journal for the center piston was offset 104° from all the others, perfectly offsetting the primary imbalances that a v5 would normally have

My preferred term for those goofy VW engines is “Narrow 6”

Koenigsegg first hypercar almost used the Subaru flat 12 engine from the failed F1 project. In fact the chassis was custom made to fit the engine but was later scrapped and they used the Ford V8 instead.

A Jz V12 already exists it's in the century. It is basically the same as two 1jz engines sure if the heads are compatible but I'm pretty sure you can make them fit

All these little V8s would be perfect hybridized. Electricity covers low end torque then put drag on the motor at high rpm to charge the battery because you want to rev an engine out but you don’t necessarily need 400hp in a 55mph corner. Anyone could easily make this today it would be the perfect drivers car and cost $1.3 mil and of course no one would buy it LoL.

The thor v2 is a 4 cylinder that can make between 2,000 and 3,000 HP from Elmer racing. They wanted to make a 4,000 HP V8 out of 2 of them, but they were afraid it won't sell. From Finland and they've won 6 racing titles in a row with they're 4 cylinder engines.

Jeez, and I complained about doing head gaskets on a Subaru 4 banger, that engine has to be at least three times worse! Imagine having to reseal the case halves of the engine block!😳

You should look into VWs W8 engine

As a VR6 expert. Can tell you that the VR5 was made for those countries that insurance amount is based on your engines size. Hence why only a handful of counties had it. It was also short lived because soon after the laws changed. The power had nothing to do with it because Volkswagen was still using the 1.8t at the time that made more power and came in base model cars. The VR6 was designed to be a diesel.
