I watched this movie one day in 1984(I was 9) when my parents weren't paying attention. Safe to say I learned a whole new vocabulary that day.

This was Eddie Murphy’s big screen debut, he was on Saturday Night Live at the time. It instantly made him a movie star. It’s still my second favorite Eddie Murphy movie ever only behind trading places.

The screaming police captain was played by Frank McRae, who also parodied this role in Last Action Hero.

48 Hrs. was directed by Walter Hill, who also directed the 1979 street gang action film, The Warriors. Actor James Remar, who played Ganz, also played Ajax in The Warriors, and actor David Patrick Kelly, who played Luther, also played the leader of the Rogues in The Warriors, also named Luther.
