Wife drives an Audi and I drive a BMW — proof that we can get along. That said, Audisteer is real.

Back in the 2000s, the Audi vs BMW debate was almost like a philosophical argument among car enthusiasts. Each brand had its own clear way of doing things, from the entry level cars all the way to the top of the line models. The difference between them was obvious, and picking one usually said a lot about the kind of driving you cared about and the conditions you drove in.

Factors like where you lived, and the local climate played a big part in the choice. For example, someone in California might lean toward a rear-wheel-drive BMW because of the good weather and fun driving roads. Meanwhile, someone in Scandinavia would probably prefer an Audi because of its all-wheel drive and better handling in cold, snowy conditions.

These days, that kind of difference doesn’t really matter as much. Audi and BMW now make pretty similar cars in terms of price, features, size, and performance. They both have turbo engines, options for all-wheel or two-wheel drive, lots of screens, gimmicks, ambient lighting, and unfortunately, cheaper materials inside.

What used to be a passionate debate about driving style and driver identity has become more about choosing between two very similar products with slightly different badges. Hence the online fanboy wars.

"Clawed through like a Lizard" how accurate, Audi has a logo for their quattro awd systems, it's a gecko :D

Love both, hating one is just plain and stupid. As a car guy I just love awesome cars, and there are plenty.

Audis forward engine also increases cabin space.
They started to push into the premium market of Mercedes and BMW in the 80s under Piech and really became a (road-)racing icon in the 2000s in le mans and with the R8.
Im a BMW fan myself, but Audi has a lot of history and special quirks to offer, even if they do naturally understeer.

There is no point to argue anymore. Both brands now make half electric trash that looks all the same. Utopian cars with no soul. Got my E46 and C5 both fully restored. I like them because I can fix them by myself and they are simple and most importantly has that feeling of personality.

My parents got a used Audi A4, which was passed down to me. After a couple of years, I traded that for a BMW 323ci. At one point, I got to have a brief fling with a used M3. Now, my wife has an A4, and I have an A6 with a supercharged V6. I fully agree with a lot of what was said in the video, as far as the difference in their approach to driving dynamics. If you want to take it to a track day, take a BMW. It will rotate so much better. If you want to make it to work in January when the road is hidden under a foot of snow, take the surefooted Audi. What struck me the most was how different they felt inside. Both brands make quality interiors, with premium sound systems and other features. But they felt totally different. Sitting in the BMWs felt like being in the office. Sitting in the Audis felt like home.

Canadian here…my first Audi was a 2009 A5 3.2 6speed. Loved that car. But it started to get old so last year I started shopping…I narrowed it down to 4 series BMWs and Audi A5, S5 and A6.
I would have been happy with any of them, but in the end I chose an A6 3.0T. I did scratch the 4 cylinders from both brands off the list after too many complaints of issues. The AWD is important to me and the A6 was the right combination of familiarity and class. I’m a dad, I don’t street race so I just wanted a combination of practical, reliable yet fun.

I'm 60 years old and I've owned nothing but Audi's in Volkswagens my entire life.

The funny thing is when I was in Marine" A "school located in Lakehurst New Jersey, my roommate bought a MK2 GTI!!!!

I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE BRAND RIGHT THERE...
As I got older I moved into a more sophisticated Audi.
But as you know VW & Audi are remarkable siblings..

I had an Audi A6 C7 with a supercharger and now have an A5 2G, so you could say I'm an Audi-kid. But I would love to try the M440 G26, though. It's silly to give up something really good just because of a badge.....
But let's be honest, most of us are just poor Porsche-kids!

I have an Audi and BMW and I love both. I grew up with Audi, but as a kid I played NFS: Most Wanted which made me fall in love with the M3 and consequently BMWs. I really appreciate how different both cars feel to drive and if you asked me which one I prefer I'd come back at you with "BMW and Audi are number 1 for me". I can't make the choice because they're different cars and both philosophies make sense to me. We need more car lovers rather than brand ambassadors.
