I have this receiver in my sound system. My sound system is all Realistic gear. I've been a Realistic fan way back into the late 1960s. My second system was update in 1979. It's all Realistic gear.

This old Realistic still looks in good shape as if it's just came out of the factory. Obviously been well looked after, and it's sound quality still sounds good. Realistic were good competitors in their days they were up there with the best, glad to see it getting a new lease of life for many more years to come. Bravo!

I just ordered a STA-21 off Ebay that needs a little help and TLC - I had one as a 20 year old and it was lost to the depths of time. Been a real time travel moment to see these being restored and repaired...

STA-225 was built by Fostex for Radio Shack in 1975 and 1976. Other models had been built by Hitachi.<br>This receiver was the TOP MODEL at the time, and is INCREDIBLY BIG & HEAVY - about 20 inches wide and (guessing) maybe close to 35 pounds!<br>The modification near the front panel may have been a tweak to the loudness control which many customers thought was too bassy to use other than at very, very low volume (where it actually worked well to warm up the sound for overnight listening in, say, a bedroom).<br>I have an STA-225 😊.

I just picked up 2 Realistic receivers from the late 80s: STA-117 & a STA-2150...
