The dome seats were generally arranged transversely rather than longitudinally. My favorite ones were in the front, where you could see over the top of the train too the locomotives, the signals, and the telltales.

Interesting that the new scenic view lounge cars have a regular roof shape while maintaining narrower curved windows at the top. AC runs down the center roof section. The 50s domes are pretty much "C" shaped. Wonder if that made them uncomfortably hot.
