I had an experience there that could only be described as time travel. It was 1998. My friend and I were there for a “living history” assignment, ironically. We were walking down a corridor inside the hotel and turned a corner. Suddenly everything looked different. It looked like we were in 1898, not 1998.. We were the only people not dressed in Victorian garb. The “hubbub” amongst the crowd gathered was very Victorian as well. We were freaking out on the inside, but stayed calm as we walked through the crowd and everyone stared at us like we were from a visiting circus. The next corner we turned brought us back to 1998, and everything was normal again. The whole experience lasted less than a minute. We never told a soul what had happened because we knew people would think we had lost our marbles, but I never forgot it.

I worked there briefly in the year of their 100th anniversary. I was alone at late at night in an out bldg on the property half the time, and I could not take the continued haunting incidents. I tried, but I could barely focus on my work. So cold in the computer room, elevator being called to the floor, but no one was calling it, children's laughter, running footsteps, front porch rocker, rocking on its own. 3 months was all I could take. I never went back to stay or visit either. Enough. And Leo Carillo, The Cisco Kid was a distant cousin, but died in 1961, 3 yrs. before I was born; his own grandfather Pedro, had once sold his Spanish land grant of Coronado Island for 3 thousand dollars. It was a lot of money back then. Early California has a wild and crazy history - many of my ancestors were there for it.

I went to the Hotel del Coronado as a baby. My parents put me in a fancy infant dress and took me to the hotel restaurant for dinner. According to my mother, I began wailing, and then I pooped my diaper. The waiter came over and informed my parents that my presence was offensive to other patrons, and so my parents took me out and thus ended my fine dining experience at the hotel del Coronado.

In the late 80s, my sister's first husband killed himself at this hotel. It was about two years after their divorce. He left a note saying he'd been diagnosed with ALS, and he wanted to see the ocean one last time. RIP, Marshall.

I was there with my family in 1958. I was 8 years old. SomeLike It Hot was being filmed and my father was participating in a Tennis Tournament at the Hotel Coronado What I remember most<br>was the elevator, dining room and swimming pool. My brother about ten, remembers Marilyn Monroe!

I had the privilege of having a vodka martini in the Prince Edward bar around 1993. It was still as it was in the Marilyn Monroe film with red leather horseshoe seats, silver candelabra and white linen tablecloths. The elegance of the staff added to a magical memory I will treasure forever. I’m not sure if that bar exists anymore

My family’s roots go deep in San Diego, and we have been to the Del many times for various reasons. It’s especially beautiful at Christmastime. One summer we were with our daughter before her senior year at Patrick Henry High. She had her expensive high school ring on while at the beach at Coronado. She realized when she got home that she had lost her ring somewhere in the sand! We prayed for the Lord to show us where it was, then she and her dad went back to the beach the next day. After sifting through the sand for a short while, she found her ring!! The Del is special, and God is good. At all times.
