When i brought home that banana LP, my sister said "that sounds like a hive of angry bees" I have to insist that WAS the BEST description of it i ever heard. I bet Lou would've agreed.

Although not mentioned in this video, the album NEW YORK undoubtedly imho has to be one of his greatest masterpieces of all time.

I was in my 2nd year of college when that first album came out. Soon I had friends coming to my dorm room wanting to listen to that record. I loved it and so did all my friends.

I was fortunate enough to have seen Lou in concert 3 times as a solo artist and once with the Velvet Underground when they reformed in 1993 and I can honestly say that I was not disappointed once, he was a great artist, songwriter and performer, I’m a little bit disappointed that 3 of his greatest albums Street Hassle, New Sensations and Mistrial wasn’t mentioned in this documentary, which by the was a great documentary, and if I’m totally honest I don’t blame Lou for not forgiving his parents for sending him to the psychiatrists, and the treatment that he was given was totally barbaric and unnecessarily cruel.
In my opinion, when John Cale was forced out of the band Velvet Underground the band was never the same again, he put a lot more into the band than he gets credit for and it showed because the first two albums were so much better than the last two albums were, personally I think Lou cut his own nose off to spite his face by pushing John out of the band, but the Velvet Underground was definitely one of the most influential bands ever for the short time that they were together, I’m just so glad that I saw them and Lou has a solo artist.

Watching this documentary I imagined hearing a noise...I got the feeling that I heard Lou Reed standing up out of his grave screaming: 'Hey this isn't a documentary about the marvelous Velvet Underground or the magnificent Metallica!' It's about me, Lou Reed, remember?' What I mean to say that there is far too much emphasis on the Velvets and Metallica. After 30 minutes it's still about the Velvets. I would have liked the docu more if the title was changed into Velvet underground and Metallica. It's not what one suspects.

As David Bowie predicted in words of consolation to Laurie Anderson, 'Lulu' has grown in artistic stature in just 15 short years. By design Lou enlisted Metallica to give the album he had written the power it required. It is not a pretty story and the howl of much of the music is in synch with the subject matter. Not to belittle Metallica's input, but those who have followed Reed for years recognise who the creative spirit behind this semi-theatrical work really is. It was a final statement as brilliantly cerebral as Bowie's closing Blackstar. It was dramatic and opaque, yet ending on one of Reed's most tender moments, a 19 and a half minute paean to fatherhood, expectation and failure. 'Junior Dad' stands as one of his most remarkable works.

I like Lou. There was a time when Neil Young invited these people (Lou, Billy (Corgan) and god knows whom...) to his ranch, and they´re all sitting there, guess who I´d choose to talk to...?
He has a special view towards romance.
