*Please read before commenting*

This video has surpassed all my wildest expectations! :O There's just no way I can keep up with all the comments and constant conversations happening. As such there is one common criticism I want to address, as I do have a rebuttal but I couldn't fit it into my video organically. To those of you saying that Placidusax's Remembrance says his god isn't dead, they fled, that is a translation convention. The original Japanese word more directly translates to "gone" and is used to denote when something is missing, but doesn't provide the context for why that thing is missing. In addition to this, Placy himself has been sealed outside of time and wouldn't be personally aware of what had happened in the Lands Between.

Edit: Ok, two more common criticisms that I need to address. First, “the GEQ was only ever stated to be an empyrean, not a full god.” Yes, and Marika was still referred to as an empyrean even after her ascension. One does not exclude the other, and I feel like the evidence provided to us is enough to justify that assertion.
Second, “this doesn’t answer who Messmer and Melina’s father is, where they came from, or implies they came after Morgott and Mohg when all the evidence points to Messmer being first.” No, it doesn’t, neither was it intended to. I very intentionally did not address Messmer or Melina because that’s beyond the scope of this video. This theory is limited only to Marika’s ascension and Original Sin, it is not intended to be a grand unifying theory of every detail. They are not included because I do not find them relevant to this particular topic.

The thing about the moment pictured in the trailer, is that we know the ritual to become a god requires a lord to usher in the god. We do that for Ranni in her ending, and Radanh does that for Miquella. In the trailer however, there's only Marika and the creature from which she removes the golden strands. My interpretation is that she was supposed to be the lord in the that instance, she ushered in the god to complete the ritual but then stole the golden strands and made herself a god instead. One minor detail that points to this, is that she is dressed like Radagon, covering just the lower half of her body. The only other time we see her depicted like this, at the start of the final battle, is when Radagon is in control (has closed the Erdtree and takes over the body to fight).

Regarding Marika - Radagon, I think they were merged initially, later Marika discarded him, like Miquella discarded St Trina. After that she became a god, while being only a half of herself. This is why Radagon went to Renalla to make himself complete without Marika. At some point Marika or Greater Will summon Radagon back, that's why Marika says to him, that he is yet to become a god, but he is already her other self.

Explains why her ties to Godfrey seemed to be less about love but more of a business practice

But to add to your godfrey theory, there actually is a talisman in the shadow keep next to that tiny erdtree called the "Talisman of Lords Bestowal". It states "A talisman depicting Godfrey, first Elden lord, receiving the precious sap. Increases poise after using a flask of tears. The Lord accepted the sap stoically, without any sign of wavering. No wonder Lord of the Erdtree casts a long shadow over the lands."

This is a really solid theory, honestly quite compelling! Well done.

Problem with the GEQ being Placidusax’s god and killed by Marika, is we get specific information stating Placi’s god fled, and he awaiting their return. Also we learned in the dlc that Placi came up with the idea of Dragon Communion with Marika’s warriors to aid in the fight against Bayle’s faction of dragons. I don’t think he would have done this if he was an enemy to Marika for her killing his god.

If we are to believe that the mass of corpses present at the gate of divinity in the trailer is literal, it seems like the result of a single catastrophic event as opposed to the result of any sort of more traditional battle between hora loux and hornsent. I would cite the similarities between these bodies and bodies in the nox cities, as well as bodies in erdtree roots, and the petrified bodies pouring out of the sides of Enir Ilim itself. In the case of the Nox these petrified bodies are found near those giant thrones with gigantic robed skeletons, and it was said they were trying to make their own god right?
I picture it more like this:
The seduction was that of the gloam eyed queen by markia herself, perhaps in radagon form.
The gloam eyed queen was an empyrean, meaning she was nominated for potential godhood.
Perhaps the gloam eyed queen brought a group of her own people, hornsent willing to be sacrificed for the godhood ritual,
and at the last minute markia played some sort of trick, stealing the gloameyed queens spot in the ascension.

I believe the golden strands marika pulls from gloamy may even be the remains of a child they conceived; the rune soul of a child born of empyreans.
