Vintage fragances are the real niche!

Jesus Christ, this is so spot on! Coincidentally I talked about some of your points in a video I shot today, which is coming next week I think. We need more and more people discussing this very topic I believe, now more than ever

Scent of the past I agree. I've been in the perfume game since Tom Ford's first private line launch in 2007. I come in and out of the game. Its not just the fact that perfumers are using cheap ingredients and trying to pass them off as if they're rare. It is also IFRA which has banned a crap ton of ingredients over the past two decades making it harder to make authentic smelling perfume. A lot of the stuff they ban is due to the green environmentalist b.s. movement too they're not actually doing it because the ingredients are unsafe. The discovery of chemicals like Ambrox and Ambroxan and a few others like Amber/Amberwood have ruined modern perfumery, it has also made a lot of perfumers lazy when it comes to a creativity standpoint.

Those are all valid points. Vintage and artisanal/indie really do feel like the only way to go at this point.

That's why I'm all-in vintages.

Sometimes these thoughts come to my mind. I have bought niche fragrances and designer fragrances of all prices. But at the end of the day as long as somebody gets or enjoy, that should be all that matters. I mean there are fragrances from each decade, that we don't really use anymore. I mean stuff that we had in the 1980s, is different from stuff that we had in the 1920s

Your point is so spot on! Ex Nihilo is a perfect example for me. There’s so much hype around the house that I kept falling for it and buying bottle after bottle, but I ended up decluttering almost every one. All I could smell was this huge cloud of what I’m assuming is Amberwood or Ambroxan, and it overwhelmed everything else. I kept wondering what everyone else was smelling that made them love these fragrances so much! 😂there are couple of exceptions that i like but not loving every single specially the new ones that are coming out!

Writing this while wearing my signature Dior Sauvage Parfum. I agree with you, that Niche are the new designers now. I blame the fragrance influencers for this. I would have never shell out for those Niche fragrances if it was not for you guys on social media. We have niche flankers for crying out loud with one on your table.😊I knew it was game over when I saw niche flankers. We will get campaigns next for niche fragrances with a representing lead man or woman for their new releases. They are using the the designer business model.
