  It's obvious to me the vendor is purposely deprecating the battery on purpose to force Hal to upgrade to the latest ring version.

  I think Hal&apos;s main problem is he doesn&apos;t like to recite the oath. Why? Because ha hasn&apos;t decided yet if Sinestro was right or wrong.<br><br>Every time he recites the oath he pledges allegiance to something he doesn&apos;t fully believe in and it also reminds him that he has put off the decision yet again. I&apos;ve heard comic book Hal be referred to as the greatest Green Lantern to ever live, so I think we can go as far as to call him brave, not just fearless. One feature of brave people is they don&apos;t make others shoulder their burdens. Hal himself tells John to avoid attachments, but in Hal&apos;s situation, where at any moment he might have to leave being a grumpy old cop in favor of being an intergalactic revolutionary at a scale that boggles the mind, the attachments have an even higher risk of getting hurt.<br><br>John&apos;s destiny in Hal&apos;s story was either to be a bystander that got hurt, a friend that got hurt, a brave friend that tried to shoulder Hal&apos;s burden and then got hurt or a traitor that took Hal&apos;s ring away, his choice away before he was ready to make it. There really was no chance for Hal to let John in, and even if he somehow found a way to trust him, to tell him, and somehow John would make the same choice as him, they were probably under constant surveillance. When John reacted as he did to his parents being threatened that door was shut too, because a perfect situation John still had parents that could be threatened.<br><br>I think without the ring, Hal will probably feel almost relieved. But with more time to think suddenly on his hands, he won&apos;t be able to put off that choice anymore.<br><br>On a more comedic note, maybe the ring&apos;s battery has gotten old so as a responsible user, Hal tries to recharge it when it&apos;s as close to empty as possible to extend the battery life.<br><br>On a half comedic note, I don&apos;t know if &quot;doing it properly&quot; as in with the right conviction or length of recitation has anything to do with how much charge the ring draws when it is charged. Double speed oath might mean half the total charge, I dunno.

  Hal running out of power is like Spidey running out of webs. &nbsp;They did that shit constantly back in the day in order to drum up drama and then give OP heroes opportunities to fight or think through situations they&apos;d normally breeze through.

  An alien pointed out that it had been 48 hours since he charged the lantern. He left the lantern safely in his house in a pocket dimension. However, my theory is still that Hal has become the old man that travels wherever without his charger.

  Maybe it&apos;s because his rushing his oath and insincerity in saying it is affecting the charge somehow and Hal hasn&apos;t figured it out or lives with it

  That wasn’t Anton‘s explosion that Hal use the last bit of his ring to save John Stewart, and himself. It was the Manhunter Zoe‘s lasers. Anton died a bit earlier during the helicopter and water tower filled with the dark weapon, that was a funny scene because he runs out of the dark cloud because he hears Anton beeping creates a tornado throws Anton in the air and he explodes, and then he goes running back into the dark cloud to continue fighting the rest of the town spoke in Zoe.
