  Probably the most beautiful aircraft ever. I am 81 yrs. In the late 1950s I flew in a Constellation from New Orleans, Louisiana (USA) to Tampa, Florida. We had taken a DC3 from Houston, Texas to New Orleans. I feel so privileged to have ridden in those two wonderful old birds that day. Thanks much for the memories. Please keep her flying.

  Back in the 60s, my Dad would take me to Weir Cook Airport in Indianapolis and we would go to the observation deck on the roof of the TWA terminal. They flew Connies then and the sounds and smells from the big radial engines was so impressive to my 5year old self.<br>Dad worked for Allison Gas Turbine and he knew one of the TWA mechanics. One evening, we went down to the gate ( no jetways - you walked across the ramp to the plane). Dad talked to his friend and he led us out to a Connie and up the stairs.<br>I stood in the cockpit in utter amazement. All the dials, gauges, levers, controls were overwhelming and I wondered how anyone could learn what all these things did and how to fly it. I knew I wanted to be a pilot.<br>Well, last fall, I retired from flying after a long career. I&apos;d always wished I could go up in a Connie. Never got the chance.

  I am one of the original shareholders that bought in to have her rescued from an American desert back in the late 1980&apos;s and proudly still have the share certificate. I remember flying into HARS at the Illawarra Airport at Albion Park in my Littlebird and asking where I could buy a ticket to look around the museum, the reply was, rubbish mate you&apos;re a pilot and you don&apos;t need to buy a ticket. I was shown around everywhere including the workshops and all the places that the regular public don&apos;t go. Told them of my original share ownership in the Connie and that was all they needed to say &quot;time for a cuppa and slice of cake&quot;. One of the best days.

  I arrived in Canada in 1953. &nbsp;I was 4, and the first child to fly the Atlantic unescorted. &nbsp;I still have the Toronto Telegram front page picture of my parents meeting me on the tarmac at Malton airport. &nbsp;It was of course, a Super Constellation. &nbsp;It must have affected me, I&apos;m 77 and still flying.

  My dad was one of nine design engineers that came up with the tail design. &nbsp;Unfortunately he was a workaholic and died at the age of 47 when I was 12 in 1962 so I never got to hear any stories.... He also was on the p38 design team

  As an 8 year old boy I emigrated to California from Ireland with my family in 1958 in a TWA Connie. &nbsp; I still remember that flight. &nbsp;took 23 hours.
