Blue Mary Blues is actually sung by Blue Mary herself. This theme actually originates from Real Bout Fatal Fury Special in a musical video of the character, which was later featured in the NeoGeo CD and other console versions of KOF97 as part of the arranged soundtrack of said title.

This wasn't the first time SNK has done this. Yuuhi To Tsuki is also sung by Kyo and Iori as part of the NEOGEO DJ STATION which was SNK's very own CD drama series back in the 90s, the song itself was also featured in KOF96's arranged soundtrack.

KOF has something for anyone, be it rock, metal, jazz, funk, you name it. SNK went hard with their soundteam back at the 90s, can't wait to see you discover more gems

If you want to see KoF's musical range, look into the KoF96 Arranged soundtrack - lots of genres, arguably each going in interesting directions.

Some KoF themes, like Billy Kane's and Blue Mary's, are taken from their own game series Fatal Fury.
Blue Mary's is from (Fatal Fury) Real Bout Special, where she even has a music video showing her backstory

I believe Athena Asamiya is Japanese (though descended from the Greek-inspired Princess Athena from SNK's "Athena" in 1986), but Sie Kensou (left) and Chin Gentsai (right) are Chinese, and they train Kung-Fu together, so you called it.
Blue Mary is a special agent and frequent love interest of Terry Bogard. She uses a lot of grapples and throws, very "CQC"-focused.

Blue Mary's Blues was first introduced in Real Bout Fatal Fury Special Saturn version as a Special ending with a very cool 90's vibe music video! just search for "Blue Mary's Blues - Music video with English lyrics"

And if I want to recommend you a KOF theme to listen to, just check "The King of Fighters '94 - Esaka (Arranged)" It's 'THE' first KOF theme, and I am sure 100% you will love it, especially at min 2! 😉

If you're interested, Blue Mary has a different theme in Fatal Fury 3 called 'Kiss Me.' I think it's good. Also, someone else mentioned this but, Blue Mary is a grappler.
