You definitely don’t need all of this to have a successful reef tank. But for some people, reefing is also a way to express their inner geek—the engineering, designing, tweaking, and customizing are part of the fun. Sometimes we geek out our systems simply because it satisfies that creative and technical urge. 😂

there is no such thing as too much engineering on a reef tank.

Is it possible to have a thriving lps and soft coral tank in a 60 gallon 4ft long tank with a fluval fx4 canister for mechanical and an aquamaxx 1.5 hob skimmer with 1 blue tang and 1 yellow tang only as fish, using 4 of the 50 watt nicrew lights ? Will lps corals thrive in a set up like this or what would you do differently ? I already have all this equipment now.
