I live here on a mountain farm.   The wildlife,  plantlife and the  scenery surrounds me 360.  I never go anywhere,  no need.  Life is old here, older than the trees (per John Denver's Take me home).  I have a 500 year old oak tree, a young sprout when the colonies were first established.   It is still healthy, but massive  standing like a mastiff in the river bottom providing shade, food  and protection to wildlife and shade loving plants.  No lights means the Milky Way is visible on clear nites.  The smell is delicious especially after rain.  It's the only place I ever wanted to be.

One thing about the Appalachians... The Rockies and other mountain ranges are more majestic, perhaps, but our mountains are so much warmer and friendlier, green and soft. It amazed me coming from the Rockies and headed home, just how much more comforti g the Appalachians are. Like a soft hug.

This video showcases a completely different side of Appalachia than what we’re used to seeing in the media. It’s refreshing to discover a more authentic perspective.

The Appalachian Mountains feel like that wise grandparent who has seen everything and no longer feels the need to impress anyone. These mountains were already ancient when some of today’s continents were still figuring themselves out. Standing there makes human timelines feel like a weekend project.

I don't think there is anything I wanted more today than to come home eat some Panda Express and listen to an Australian man teach me about my home

As a geologist who lives in the Appalachians of Virginia, I usually find shows like this to be a little cringy at times when they get into the geologic history. This one was not bad. Not bad at all. The mountain range before the Appalachians, what we called the ancient Appalachians, were left out, and it's important because that formed the basis of what the current Appalachians were formed out of and kind of guided how they were oriented.. but doesn't really matter, this was pretty good I enjoyed it.

I dont know why this gave me a memory of how doctors back in the day would meet you in their office and as you describe whats going on theyre pulling out books and showing you illustrations, like does this sound like what youre experiencing? <br>It seems like a nice way to visit a doctor, almost like a VISIT, as opposed to interrogation/verdict.

I live in Northeast Tennessee in the very heart of these mountains; I was born and raised here, and I can tell you &nbsp;that I am most certainly a very lucky man to call this place home.

Being born and raised at the southern tip of the Appalachian Mtn&apos;s, I consider myself truly blessed for my life experiences geographically and nationally. Although the Alabama humidity can be brutal at times, I really do appreciate my beautiful stomping grounds and my neighbors. God bless the USA.
