  I was Captain on one of the tugboats that transferred all that debris to FKL by barge. Took us almost 2 years. That was my tugboat in the first scene they showed a tugboat. I was captain on that boat up until a month ago when my company finally sold it.

  The amount of detail that went into this recovery is truly amazing...... I don't think people really knew or understood this backstory.

  I had seen pictures of the smashed-up ambulances, fire trucks and police cars, but I had absolutely no clue that a project like this was undertaken.  Those people sorting the materials for remains or personal effects were heroes of a rare nature.  In every kind of weather; rain, sleet and blazing 10-degree days in their ppds were dedicated to the extreme to bring closure and healing to the friends and families of the dead by finding every little scrap.  The most touching and fascinating story I heard was the discovery of tiny gold locket, crushed but still internally intact that contained a little lock of hair.  The dna was identified and the locket given to the family, but what amazed and touched me was that that family had something to bury because the hair belonged to the deceased.  They never found anything else from that person.

  Its a shame that this video hasn't gained much views. Very interesting and educational. These guys definitely rewrote the book of a large crime scene investigation.

  I was from the UK and was part of the clean up operation in the buildings around Ground Zero. A very sobering job, especially when bodies were brought out. I spent two months there and then out in Long Island rebuilding computers. It certainly affected the way I look at the world.

  To respectfully put aside the tragic loss of human life on 9/11 for a sec, there is so much that intrigues me about this event. The clear up operation is one of them. Totally overlooked by the masses. I really enjoyed this video and it has answered so many questions i've had for the last 2 decades.

  I have watch this 25 years later. That is how long it has taken me to gain courage to look, face to face at the remnants of this horror. Thank you for so beautifully archiving this event for future generations to see. This was a time when Americans stood together, proud and undivided.

  This footage is truly a powerful reminder of the incredible efforts that went into the World Trade Center recovery operation. The dedication and cooperation of all the workers, volunteers, and agencies involved is truly inspiring. It's heartwarming to see how they came together to bring some solace and comfort to the families affected by this tragedy

  Incredible that they were able to clear all the debris from the site. That they were able to sift through it to check for remains and valuable information is mind blowing. Amazing people

  This was an astronomical  amount of work. I never realized all of this was done in this manner. Thank you to all involved in this massive undertaking.
