One of my coworkers used to live in North Dakota, she said it was nice and quiet, but far, far from fun. She also mentioned you could watch your dog run away for a week

The big drop in population for Garrison and Underwood in the 50 to 60 time frame would be the workers leaving that had been building the Garrison Dam from 47 to 53.

My dad, born 1913, was born and raised in ND and lived there until 1948. We traveled there every Summer by car because all the grandparents lived there. Dad always that in ND you could see farther and see less than any other state in the Union
