  The 38 special will stop everything up to a black bear.  That and a 9 mm loaded with hard cast lead will stop just about anything.  It's more about shot placement than anything else.  I've said for years that the proper bullet at the proper velocity will put down anything including elephants...

  Very good video and warning!!!! But you should have also mentioned that you can get .357 Mag  ammo that expand a lot, and thus have less penetration! You should have mentioned that not only is the flash big, so is the sound when inside!!!!!

  I would rather shoot a mild 38 special in my house,  but I'll do it through a 6 inch .357 magnum pistol. That way I can load 5 .38s and one hot .357 load on the 6th chamber,  for that one chance that it's a bear, not a human coming through my door.

  Very good video and I subscribed.  I would only mention that for a gun that eats.38’s most of the time and.357s once in a while, I’ll take the Model 66.  On my nightstand is one of those, loaded with standard pressure .3s for the very reasons youmentioned, mostly because of family and neighbors.  Good job!!

  One of the reasons I pick a 38 special is because of some of the very reasons you're talking about. Especially inside the home.

  I shot deer at 50 yards with a. 357 mag revolver with a 6. Barrel and stopped them in their tracks

  My "night stand" gun is a plain Jane 4" Taurus .357 loaded with 125 grain Winchester silver tips in '38 + P. I've shot this combination for almost 30 years now having switched from 158 grain full wad cutters in .38 +P's. I trust them, they perform properly and more importantly, I can shoot them proficiently. They do their job and lets me do mine. I have a Colt 1911 series 80 that is more of a range queen but, if I hear a noise at 0300 hrs. I reach for my faithful Taurus and mag light, confident that the only person I put in jeopardy is the intruder! As an aside, I live in Florida and my carry gun is going to be a snub nose, loaded with the same 125 grain Winchester .38 spl. +P's that have served me will all these years.
