The confrontation between Josey and Ten Bears is one of the greatest dialogs in modern cinema. Two men who know that they could easily shed so much blood meeting together and realizing that they've lived the same life in many ways and can make the choice to create life, not death. It's fantastic.

Clint said in an interview Chief Dan George wouldn’t remember his lines and would just riff it. Clint said George’s riffing was better than the script so they just learned to roll with it. Makes every scene even better.

Chief Dan George was a national treasure, both for his own nation and the United States.

This movie was actually groundbreaking in regards to how people perceived Indians. Chief Dan George showed the world that we are a people with an enormous sense of humor. Most westerns portray us as stoic, serious, Mother Earth lovers. But in fact, we’re so much more. AND we’re hilarious. Glad you watched this.

Josey wales was based on a real man from Missouri, his name was bill wilson. I can’t imagine it was an accident that in the end the locals were calling him Mr Wilson. I’ve also read that bill wilson still has descendants in Missouri today.

There are some great quotes by Josey Wales: "buzzards gotta eat, same as worms", "Dyin ain't much of a living boy", and other great one liners. And Lone Watie: "endeavor to persevere". Love this movie!

The actor who gets the least credit is John Vernon, ''Fletcher''. He is a very underrated actor.
