We used to have a Pier 1 and Nordstrom. Dog mushing is more than just a tourist attraction. There are a lot of us who do mid distance, short distance, sprint and recreational mushing. Some people still run their trapline by dog team as well.

A key fact you missed about the tunnel to Whittier: it is a dual-use tunnel, both for automobiles and trains! Since it is only one-way at a time, the tunnel has a regular schedule. Trains at specific times, cars going inbound at other times, and outbound at yet other times

Dog sledding is definatly still used as a mode of transport today not just for sport. Also the Iditarod has a ceremonial start in Anchorage but actually runs from willow to nome every year :)

There’s a place in alaska called Unalaska. Also most of the earthquakes are so small that you don’t even notice them, especially around anchorage, palmer, wasilla, and towns around there

Lake Hood is in Anchorage, in fact you need to contact the Anchorage International Air Tower when coming and going from Lake Hood.
