  I cancelled most of my streaming subscriptions because I found myself spending more time trying to decide what to watch than actually watching a movie. And sometimes, by the time I actually decide, I've lost interest. I miss Blockbuster Video!

  It's interesting how so many people are coming to this same realisation in the last 12 months or so. It does feel, as a society, like we're burning ourselves out on digital consumption.  Like you say, going 'backwards' can be a challenge but the rewards are worth it. I've been reconnecting with my physical media and it's way more satisfying and grounding.

  I find it heartening that I'm not the only one who wants to see a physical media comeback. I've built my DVD/Blu-Ray collection for over two decades with hundreds of classic Hollywood movies and Film-Noir, along with documentaries and foreign films. One thing I miss is the experience of going to a brick-and-mortar store (like HMV) and just browsing the huge selection of movies. It was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience, and I'd occasionally get a recommendation for a film from other customers. It's something else that I wish would make a comeback.

  I’m collecting again. I was dumb enough to go, “oh, prime video has community, firefly, doctor who, etc. why do I need all these DVDs?” til a few years later and all of those favorites are gone. Not getting fooled again by digital. I’m gonna own my favorites.

  I read physical books, and I love looking at them on my bookshelves. You can't decorate a room with downloads!

  Back in the Blockbuster days, I could only afford to rent two movies, so each visit felt like a sacred ritual. I’d slowly walk through every aisle, picking up cases, reading the synopses, analyzing the covers. Those two choices had to count. My attention wasn’t scattered like it is now with endless streaming. Back then, movies felt like events, not just something to throw on in the background. Physical media had weight, both literally and emotionally.

  Just bought a lot of DVDs for the beach, working on getting my friend a CD player for her birthday and I'm working on my VHS collection! Physical media collecting just feels so rewarding and I feel more connected with the movies and shows I love, Plus a little bit of inconvenience is healthy having everything 100% easy really isn't good for you

  I’ve cancelled my apple music and started buying cds again to listen on my offline music player. Next the improved music quality, there is something to owning a cd that is yours. The tangebility of it all speaks to my primal innermost self.

  I was with you and nodding my head in agreement. Then came the part where you said you throw away the dvd cases and put them in a binder/wallet thing. I differ because I enjoy the physical experience of going to my shelf and looking through to select a movie. Chucking away dvd cases is like a blasphemy to me 😂😂😂

  To this day I admire my grandpa&apos;s extensive VHS library and the structured system he implemented to make sure it&apos;s possible to find movies quickly.

  Physical media also ensures the best viewing experience quality-wise. No worry of compression or data slowdowns pixelating the image. A 4K disc will give you 4K clarity and sound confidently.<br>There is also the comfort of knowing your copy of a movie is not being changed and edited without your knowledge unlike many movies being released on streaming services.
