When I vacation in Oahu, I ALWAYS stay in Kailua. It's the cutest little town.

Stayed for the winter '89/'90 on Kawailoa road just steps from the beach. It was a dream for that 19 yr. old from Vermont! You got me psyched to go back and visit, and see how massively the town has changed since then. The beach still looks the same!

Lanikai was known to me since the 1970s because Elvis spent his last Hawaiian vacation there shortly before he passed away. It hasn't been a secret for Elvis fans for decades.

If think of Kailua as the Santa Monica of Oahu. It has its own small beach town vibe. Lanikai reminds me of Malibu.

Thank you sharing Kailua in this video. I grew up in Kailua and spent 20 years there. Miss it so! I’m looking forward to visiting again in the fall and seeing all the changes since 2005; my last visit. 😁
