Episode 2 of our FARM RENOVATION… and the jobs are already piling up! 🪵🏡 We’ve taken on an old house and smallholding in the Welsh countryside, and with winter on the horizon there’s one problem we need to sort — FIREWOOD. We’ve got plenty of wood around the farm, but absolutely nowhere sensible to store it. So this week, I’m building a traditional timber LOG STORE from scratch and trying to make something practical that actually looks like it belongs alongside our old Welsh cottage. Of course, nothing is ever quite that simple… There’s still the sewage treatment plant to sort, acres of land that need bringing back under control, old buildings that need attention and a house renovation that feels like it’s getting bigger every time we look at it. We’re learning as we go, making mistakes, meeting the people around us and slowly figuring out what it actually takes to bring an old rural property and neglected smallholding back to life. This is real countryside renovation — DIY, traditional building, woodworking, firewood, land management, old house restoration and everything that comes with moving to the Welsh countryside.
