  When the army doctor makes his little speech &amp; announces &quot;one person who made a difference&quot; to the soldiers in the convalescent home, Edith gets recognized for the first time. It was such a nice moment. I really enjoyed it.

  In a way I think Edith fitted the idea of the modern woman more than Mary. While May was glamorous and cold, Edith was introverted yet bubbly, the kind of person that once you break away their shell is very sociable and intelligent. It takes one bad day to change the rest of your life, whether the outcome is good or bad you decide, Edith chose to get up and pick up her pieces, after all no one else but herself would. She was strong, when her time to shine appeared she took it and made the world brighter.

  Edith is a complex, fascinating character. Her blossoming and development through a series of misfortunes is by far the most interesting subplot of Downton!

  My favorite scene is when Mary gets pissed that Edith is getting attention from suitor sir Anthony Strallen and so she, too, goes after him just to piss Edith off. &nbsp;Then Matthew sees her flirting with Strallen after dinner, gets annoyed and leaves the party, and Mary ends up upset because she realizes she blew it. &nbsp;That was a real chance she had to get with Matthew yet. Her own pettiness and bitchiness causes her to lose it. &nbsp;Even her parents commented that Mary thought her toy would still be there after she’d left it alone for awhile. &nbsp;I also love the fact that Edith was falling in love with men who were so much more interesting than anyone shallow Mary would choose, especially Mr. Gregson, and even Bertie, both of whom were much more interesting than anyone in the occasionally very shallow Crawley family could comprehend.

  It was nasty to see Edith getting knocked back by men and her sister, oh but how empowering it was to see her rise from the ashes and claim her prize in the end with sweet lovely Bertie ❤️

  It&apos;s amazing how much prettier Lady Edith got as the show went on... &nbsp;It&apos;s shocking how much more beautiful Laura Carmichael is then Lady Edith. &nbsp;She must be a really good actress, because when she acts frumpy we perceive her as frumpy. When she acts confident, we perceive her as more attractive. It&apos;s really very interesting.

  Edith was my favourite character of all. The least appreciated or favoured but most capable &amp; balanced of the three sisters. &nbsp;A woman trying to find her way in a changing world. &nbsp;I loved tge way she held her own against the family pressure, felt her anguish over Marigold but blissful when she finally found happiness. A super character. Adore her.
