  I worked as an accountant in the life insurance industry 30 years ago. I learned quickly to avoid anything related to life insurance or annuities. The regulators are hopelessly outmatched.

  The bottom line here seems to be that these PE guys learned to tap the retirement savings of millions of people by buying themselves an insurance company to use as a cash cow. &nbsp;This will work until it doesn&apos;t. &nbsp;When this music stops, the policy holder will be the bag holder. &nbsp;And forget the regulators. The cat is already out of the bag, so to speak.

  I’m not a big fan of regulation but essentially shifting around assets in-house but having the risk fall on payees seems wrong.

  I think this is the tip of the ice berg. My insight is that most of the PE owned life insurance companies have significant related party transactions and maybe even worse with under funded reinsurance SPVs to window dress their balance sheets. ThePE firms &nbsp;are using the life reserves as their firm savings account. I think the regulators need to step up their game in this area.

  Unless…all these companies have been assured that the government will backstop everything, inflation will only get worse. Thats what I believe is happening. It’s a club and it’s all rigged. When pensions bought GameStop stock before the squeeze, you knew it’s all rigged
