  I spent 3 weeks in Taiwan. it's incredibly safe, world class work ethic, gracious people, some of the highest quality porcelain and wood carvings in the world. all night markets, fresh food, museums everywhere, temples, tea ceremonies. Earth quakes ( the buildings don't fall down!!), typhoons, hurricanes. surrounded by islands. high speed rail system almost free can take u out of the cities into mountains, waterfalls and a tropical paradise unrivaled. Granite mountain ranges and jade everywhere! it's a very unique and very high vibrational expereince.

  I live in Taiwan 10 years and wouldn’t hesitate to have a boat built there. They’re very trustworthy hard-working and honest they’ll make it as good as you want. It depends how much detail you give. I’d say it’s probably the best place in the world to get it built, youwon’t be disappointed

  For a boat/house  build:  Remember that nothing ever stays on schedule or on budget. The place you choose to build should meet the budget, but you also need to live there and the workmanship has to be the best you can afford. Work ethic, honesty, trust, problem solving and communication is very very important.

  I used to work in the bike industry and traveled to TW a lot.. spent time in Kaohsiung a bit.. mostly Taichung tho.. yeah, big city, but honestly hop on the bullet train( 185 mph )and you can get anywhere out of the city, pretty quickly if you don't have a car.  You got everything you need there. build in Vietnam or Thailand, PH,  or anywhere else brings up other issues..  In TW, you can get the project done, in and out,  fast and efficiently, plus surf, dive,  hop a flight to anywhere.  Everything will happen much slower most other places.

  I heard from "Odd Life Crafting" another sailing Youtube channel originally from Brazil, that their (Brazil's) Import taxes are SILLY Expensive. And because of that they took the build of their new monohull to Europe... Then their boat yard went out of business and they are still scrambling to build and get anywhere near sea-worthy. But that put an interesting twist on Brazil, at least for me when you mentioned it.

  Got to be Dan the man at stradbroke Australia. Great place to live no language barrier and probably the best welder I’ve seen and no problems to big or small, seems like a great chap.

  As a long time resident of Taiwan (Tainan), I was pretty excited to watch this week's episode and was (and still am) hopeful that you'll choose Taiwan for your build. I was looking forward to offering some volunteer time to help work on your boat after I retire next year (if you need it). Right behind that marina that you visited in Tainan, just over the bridge, there's a cool little island with a nice little bay where a lot of people go to sailboard and do dinghy sailing. Wish I knew you guys were in town when you were, but maybe we'll get a chance to meet up some other time. Cheers.

  I love Taiwan!  I've been working with a variety of factories there for over 20 years, so I have made many visits.  I  think you will do well building it there.  It's the sweet spot of quality, price, and culture.  The people are amazing, food is healthy and tasty, and you have the urban benefits of international cities  paired with the beauty and climate of Hawaii.  It has my vote!
