The Micron TransPort XKE is a Pentium MMX “Tillamook” based laptop released in 1997. It was manufactured by Sanyo, the same company who made the previous TransPort XPE and the Millennia TransPort.

These micron kxe laptops are interesting. I was able to produce a working one from 2 “for parts” systems. The suspend battery is super annoying, but it’s possible to remove by just making a hole and pulling the battery out. This is what I ended up doing once I knew of the position from taking apart one of the XKEs.

The dock is pretty cool too. It has built in speakers. It also has the line in for external MIDI devices as well.

Love the videos as always.

The 'scuffed screen' is called 'vinegar syndrome', it's to do with how the polariser film is glued to the lcd panel, I believe it's the glue that goes bad.

Excellent repair. There are 2032 battery holders. Easier to replace the battery. 😊
