  My cousin lives in Montana and was knocked to the ground by a grizzly while hiking in Yellowstone. She had bear spray but was caught off guard because bears can be very fast and stealthy. While lying on the ground with the bear’s paw pushing onto her head, she was aware of her rescue lab circling, barking, growling and going berserk. After a few moments the bear got up and ran away. Her entire head was severely bruised but she wasn’t mauled. Her dog saved her life.

  If you wear bells and carry pepper spray, the bears aren`t usually a problem. You can tell which bears are in the area from their poop. Black bear poop has berries and fur in it. Grizzly bear poop has bells in it and smells like pepper.

  You know, I&apos;m a typical American. Tall, male, white, military veteran, camp, hunt, carry a gun, can ride a horse, grow my own vegetables, ride a motorcycle, etc. So I may be considered an expert in America. Of course, I&apos;m trying to be funny. You two definitely have the American spirit. Its obvious how much Ireland has flavored America. You have the wanderer spirit and face many issues without fear. Your joy brings me joy. I wasn&apos;t able to visit Ireland in my military service, but its on my short list of Wants. I&apos;m working my way through your content library. Yes, buffalo are incredible. So big.

  One early morning, I was sleeping comfortably in my tent, with wife and new baby when I heard snorting. Outside the tent was a mother black bear and her two cubs. Next thing I knew this huge rump came sitting down on the tent and right on top of me! I remember saying, &quot;Move the baby! Move the baby!&quot; and hoping all of those hundreds of pounds of mother bear didn&apos;t break my bones. Thankfully, a person in a nearby tent saw what was going on and made enough noise that the bear got off of me. She then stood high, noticing that her little ones had gone into the woods, so off she went. I&apos;ll share my other close calls some other time...
