The sad part is Kreo NAILED what Transformers sets should be, transforming figures between bots and vehicles that had minifigure parts along with being buildable. Such a nice hybrid you don't see nowadays...

I feel like the lack of competing brick brands nowadays is probably one of the reason why Lego has been starting to become more lazy with their sets lately.

Kreo may not have been that great, but Built to Rule, which proceeded it, is considered by fans to be the worst Transformers line of all time.

This video is crazy to me because it’s probably the only time I’ll hear characters like Seawing, Spinister, and Jalguar name dropped outside of deep fandom

The Kreon Optimus Prime head piece is so damn adorable. If Lego does minifigs I hope they base it on that

1:55 That's wrong. Beast Wars was a huge success. But yes, Beast Machines flopped.

Kreo was actually pretty fun. My brothers and I were huge Transformers and Lego fans when we were younger, and we had the Mirage, Basic Bumblebee, Basic Optimus Primes, and a few Kreo brick boxes. Kreo wasn't that bad of quality and actually held together.

I didn't mind Kre-O, it had potential, but I think they were too late in ironing out the kinks

Blokees and Yolopark are both cooking with the Transformers license right now. The key factor for me was committing to an aesthetic that can appeal to audiences. Kre-o tried to blend the Alt Mode and Robot Mode gimmick into one set that led to wonky looking designs. With Yolopark and Blokees committing to bot mode designs albeit Hasbro wanted to be the only ones to create transforming figures, it allows them to create more accurate representations of each character especially.
