  Mostly accurate.  I retired from the U.S. military 30 years ago here.   People respect each other until you give them a reason not to.  Elders are treated well.  Those teenagers hanging out aren't troublemakers.  Violent crime is rare.  I, too, will be buried here.

  To be honest, I&apos;d rather be lonely than in a home- by my own children. There&apos;s no such thing as a foreigner in a place where there are people who care for you.

  If you rent a house, I suggest you buy roofing insulation from the hardware store. &nbsp;They&apos;re sold there with foam and aluminum foil backing. Get your landlord to hire or get someone to put the insulation in the ceiling. Measure the square meters you need. You&apos;ll be a lot cooler when insulation is installed. They&apos;re sold like 45 pesos per square meter. I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. I went to Canada at 23 to work. I&apos;m 78 now and retired. I have a pacemaker that requires a yearly cardiologist check up. I can&apos;t go back to the Philippines and retire. But I visit 3 months yearly. Good luck. You&apos;ll meet good people there that will look after you when you get sick. Doctor consultations are cheap and meds are cheap as well if you need them for maintenance health care. I love your story. I hope your son realizes his mistake. We don&apos;t put parents in a nursing home. We look after them till death. I live with my son now rent free in canada but I cook and do groceries that he pays for.

  You know how japan take care of their elders when they are busy or limited time to take care of their parents? They build &nbsp; &nbsp;nursing homes in Australia and send there for elder care because doing these in japan cost a lot of money. Every year, they send them back to japan for a vacation. Nursing home built by Japanese is built like a vacation place with spa and tour packages. It&apos;s not a prison. It is built like a vacation place.
