Room and board this used to be called. I admire what the household is doing, but she does not live without money

She has lived without money but she has someone else that works a paying job to pay the bills and provide necessities. In exchange she does work around the place. This would be a much harder life to achieve on your own. It’s nice to see they both give credit to each other for their role in this lifestyle.

Just living with less is a good start. Sharing your resources and skills with like minded people is a great way to trade.

It’s pretty clear no one can fully step outside the system entirely. But that doesn’t make the effort or intention meaningless. If anything, it shows how much can still be done within the reality we’re all in. Everyone, as always, is invited to take what resonates and leave the rest.

This was such a beautifully made film—really calm, thoughtful, and just genuinely pleasant to watch. You can tell a lot of care went into the pacing, the editing, and the storytelling. Bravo!

“Action is the antidote to despair”. I am going to frame this quote. It is the most profound thing I’ve heard in a while.

Edited: After watching this again, I think I was too critical of her stance. I don't see so much polarizing "money bad, no money good" as I saw in the first viewing, and this has definitely given me food for thought about why that seemed so much more strong in my first exposure.

I'm of two minds about this. Its an interesting story of mutually beneficial trade, and that is lovely to see, and commendable. Where she loses me is her ideological stance in taking virtuous credit for bucking the system but she's really just passing that "moral bill' on to the others in the household. She can claim her hands are 'clean' of nasty/dirty money, while she benefits from others in the household getting their hands 'dirty' with it. Why even go there? If she hadn't brought in the ideological virtue-signaling, this would have been a simple, lovely story.

This is basically the traditional married life our grandparents lived. One goes out to the world to make money while the other one tends to the garden and housework and children.

Not what I was expecting...anybody could live with no money if their friend lets them move into their house....

I would love to have someone else cover my living expenses while I do the things I love to do.
