  My most valuable loco is the 2037 that Dad got me for Christmas 1953. <br>Probably worth $50 to most people, but priceless to me.

  My grandfather had one of those black GG1’s lying around. It was kept in a case while there was another one that ran, with a road number of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/2360">#2360</a>. He has since passed and the 2 locomotives were divided among me and my uncle. I don’t know which one I have, but regardless I don’t think anyone would be happy if the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/2332">#2332</a> was sold. :/

  My trains are worthless. Not because they have no value, simply because they are not for sale. I value them highly. They are not leaving our family.

  As of today im seeing some good examples that are pretty affordable by comparison. I like to collect for the engineering/tooling variations, so i just go with the cheaper variant and am happy. Its usually only graphics making the difference between that and something far more reasonable. Its nice when you find something desireable cheap, though. And even better when the one you personally like is the cheap version!

  In addition to old trains, I collect pocket knives. On a forum I frequent, we get one and done posters often asking how much a knife they found is worth. I always tell them to do an eBay &quot;Completed Listings&quot; search to get a ballpark. Someone&apos;s definition of &quot;Mint&quot; varies from seller to buyer. Lots of counterfeiting in the pocket knife market too. Great video, thanks!

  The 2332 was my favorite train when I was a kid. I&apos;m only &nbsp;70 but I got my trains from an older cousin which is why I had it. That train was made of steel, my &quot;newer&quot; trains were plastic and I hated that, even as a five year old I could recognize the drop in quality that happened in the late 50s and early 60s.<br><br>It doesn&apos;t surprise me that the values peaked 30 years ago and are dropping now. My generation was the last cohort that played with trains, people in their 40s and 50s are in the prime collector years. The guys who played with trains as kids are now in their 70s and 80s, that&apos;s the time of life when you switch from acquiring to disposing.

  I have collected them for years and my father before me and the first thing I learned was they are worth more to you than other people but that&apos;s why we collect but I do have a few very valuable ones !
