My step grand father had one of these, I remember my grand mother plugging her coffee pot into it so the alarm would start the coffee before she got out of bed.

Crosley was founded by Powell Crosley in Cincinnati, Ohio who also owned the Cincinnati Reds and was responsible for adding lights to Crosley Field for night games. His company made radios, refrigerators, televisions, owned a radio station and made a small car in the 40's and 50's before anyone was thinking about compact cars. His main thrust was apparently making new technology things affordable for everyone and profitable for him. The company that owns the brand now puts it on those suitcase record players and licenses it to other manufacturers to somewhat revitalize the brand on items that Crosley used to make. That radio is an absolute beautiful survivor. I'm glad you decided to keep it working.

We had that exact radio in our kitchen - early 1960s. Ours was white, but by the 80s, it had turned this colour. Great sound. It's where I first heard songs like "The Sound Of Silence".

When I was young we had plenty of AM channels. I remember they always worked better at night.

I saw where some vintage enthusiast hollowed out the old oil caps and mounted new film caps inside the oil cap shells to preserve the vintage look.

Thank you for making this video. Very interesting to watch. Also, for taking the time to clean the inside of the housing. The attention to detail, and the respect for the craftsmanship of the past is refreshing.

C'mon Aiden, don't sell yourself short! Mr. Carlson has YEARS of experience that in time you will have too. Your logical approach of investigation and trail-and-error will get you there. Keep up the great work and entertaining videos.

Looks like this was made when the 7 pin miniature tubes were very recently introduced. Later 5 tube radios used a 12AV6 instead of the 8 pin octal 12SQ7 for the 1st audio/detector. The design of this radio makes me think of a car dashboard of the same era.
