It's just so fascinating and captivating to know that you can go to such a tavern and taste the same things that our ancestors did.

I've been making King's Arms Tavern sweet potatoes for years. One year, I lost the recipe but just happened to find their cookbook in a thrift shop some time later. It had the recipe, so I was really happy!

The first time I ate at King's Arms I was eight. In those days, they didn't have a separate kids menu. I wanted the wild game pie and the waiter tried to talk me out of it. My parents got it for me anyway. I remember how magical the meal was, with the candles, the music, the peanut soup... Fifty years on and I've eaten the same meal every time I've gone back -- tho' they changed the recipe sometime after 2022.

That peanut soup looks so good! My Mom and Dad have eaten here many times as they would visit Williamsburg every April and October.
