Kirsten Dunst absolutely deserved an Oscar for her performance. It's insane how good of a performance she put on.

 RIP River Phoenix, 1970-1993.
He was going to play the role of the interviewer Daniel Malloy, but he sadly passed away from a drug overdose.
His friend, Christian Slater, played the role instead and donated his paycheck to some of Phoenix's favorite charities.
The film is dedicated to his memory.

The writer of The Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice, was not happy when she found out that Tom Cruise was to be cast as Lestat. To the point that she attended a public boycott that was against Tom being cast as Lestat. After seeing the movie she loved his performance and spoke in support of him even saying that while others may one day play the role, nobody will forget Tom's version of it.

If you want more vampire stuff, Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula" with Gary Oldman as the count may be worth a watch. It is more faithful to the 1897 novel than most versions, and is pretty artistically accomplished. Coppola vetoed the use of overly modern special effects and did everything in camera and practically, which he felt gave the film a special soul and atmosphere.

Hands down the BEST vampire movie. And the only one that truly deals with what it means to be a vampire. One of my favorite movies of all-time. Only wish it were twice as long.

My girlfriend asked me to watch Twighlight with her, I said only on one condition, we watched this film next time... She immediately began binging the interview with a Vamp T.V. series after we watched this. I don't think she ever finished the Twilight movies. 😂

Older vampires get untethered from society the older they get. Finding companionship helps them adjust to the times.

I remember interviewers were being weird and creepy by asking Kirsten Dunst (who was 12 at the time) what it was like kissing Brad Pitt. She rightfully found it uncomfortable and still to this day found it baffling
