We are from Fredericktown! We left St. Louis 25 years ago. We bought 300ac. and the home of our dreams. We never looked back. Culture is what is the tricky part.

We are careful to keep yards mowed due to copperheads! <br>“How do you know if there is a snake in the grass?” CUT the grass!!<br>Yes-we grow rocks! My new favorite tool is a 5 pound Mattock. Cant get by without it!

Missouri is a special place. My grandparents once owned property there so my mother and aunts grew up there. The biggest problem there is Tornadoes, stay clear of Joplin it seems to attract them. Other than that it is truly beautiful there. Oh and yes, bugs can be aggressive.

Cicadas are ok, just noisy. Locust will wipe out your crops. Never had that issue that I recall. Tent worms will wipe out trees. Chiggers SUCK!!! Ticks are thick and annoying for certain. You didn't mention all the different variations of wasps & hornets. Some of them are relentless such as ground hornets / yellow jackets. You will certainly want a high quality zero turn, if you live on several acres or large lot that has not been improved. The rocks constantly destroy blades, decks and spindles on an average riding mower. First part of the year, if you don't mow regularly, it will get away from you in a hurry. One thing that has always amazed me about living in SO MO is how fast things grow in the spring. If you are gone for two weeks in the spring without having someone mow for you, have fun....

Sorry but I like Southern Missouri. As a child my family and I would take vacations at Roaring River State Park and I loved going there every year. Roaring River is near Cassville Missouri and Branson Missouri. Back in the early 1960s we went to where Branson was being built. Wasn't much there at the time but it sure has grown since. I haven't been back since 2013, when my niece and her children moved to Paola Ks and my brother came back a few months later. God bless.
