  Four years ago, I moved from Philadelphia to Arkansas and it felt like I went back in time, maybe to the 1950s. It was a real culture shock at first. But I also found something I hadn’t experienced in a long time: people who are genuinely friendly and trusting. After four years, I bought a house here and I’m truly happy. That said, Arkansas isn’t for everyone. My neighbors across the street, who are in their 40s moved here just a year ago and have already decided to leave as soon as their lease is up. This state has a unique pace and personality. You either grow into it, or you don’t."

  I am half Cherokee and half white. My parents relatives are from the Westville Oklahoma area, which is near the Arkansas line. And my entire life I never heard any resentment or anger towards anyone because of being white or Indian.  The one thing they all shared was hard work and hard times. And going to church.  Serving in the military, respect for your parents, and knowing what is right wrong is understood by whites and Indians.

  Born and raised in California. Lived  6 years in Arizona, and now moved to Oklahoma 3 years ago......I think my bones will rest here. Such great people here!

  Born and raised in Arkansas. Have been  to all 50 states because I wanted change. I came back to Arkansas because there is no place like it . Things move slow here, but harder working and friendlier people I have never found.

  I moved from Bakersfield ca. To Cabot Arkansas  in 2014 and it's the best thing I did. I could never get ahead in California. God has truly blessed me since I moved here.

  Moved to southern OK three years ago from D/FW.  Had a plumber at the house early on and we got to talking.   He said, “when you cross the Red River you just jumped 20 years back in time.”  It’s probably closer to 30.   Very different, but we like it.

  As one who has lived their entire life in Arkansas, and family has lived here since the 1840's I can say it is home sweet home, place like no other.
