the slipper standing straight up is like a test for the viewer. You notice that they keep bringing it up, much like Steven Yuen keeps remembering it. You think there is some connection there, much like Steven thinks theres some connection between him living and this discovery of his. However, there is no greater meaning to it, its just a freak incident and a freak happening. Which, if he had realized this sooner, he wouldve never led himself and his family to being swallowed up and eaten. Trying to find meaning in the meaningless can be a fatal error.

57:00 The tie-in of the monkey is because the alien isn’t malicious, it’s just an animal, following its animal instincts to eat and survive and can be extremely dangerous when we mess with it

i think another tie in is that because jupe survived the chimp massacre he thought he had some kind of special power over survival and somehow 'the one' kind of vibe, which is why it never even crossed his mind that he could actually be in danger.... also the balloons set off the chimp assault and the giant balloon ended the alien assault....closing the circle sort of thing lol

Jacob was right about the parallel of Gordy and Jean Jacket being these untameable creatures that people are trying to use for entertainment or "spectacle" (the TMZ guy ties another form of spectacle too). So it's not just about "you can't tame a predator," but about using the creatures for spectacle. Even the Gordy incident was a real life tragedy that became a spectacle. What happened at Jupe's Claim became a spectacle. And Will mentioned the green thing looking like an eye. And the only way to not be taken by Jean Jacket? Look away.

As for the shoe, according to what Jordan Peele has said, ties in with the "bad miracle" or "impossible shot." He said:
“The shoe represents a moment of where we check out of a trauma. And Jupe, he zones in on this little shoe, that's Mary Jo's shoe, that has landed in a precarious, odd situation. And this is the moment that he disassociates. So the shoe for me is in essence, in one way it's the impossible shot. That's an impossible moment.”

This movie is about humanity’s addition to sensationalism, fame, and exploitation for consumption. The tying in of the shoe and the monkey was about the idea of “bad miracles” and the overall theme of spectacle. The shoe and the table cloth is what saved the kid bc he wasn’t looking directly at the monkey (not looking at the spectacle), but he incorrectly interpreted this as him being chosen by Gordy (with the fist bump) which then leads him to monetize and find spectacle later with using Jean jacket as a ticket seller even though he truly doesn’t understand the creature. This also applies to the TMZ guy bc he is basically representing cameras and the media making spectacles of everything and the film guy who was willing to die for the perfect shot. Everything is about making clicks and money off of things. The alien is a “bad miracle” the people stupidly try to monetize or tame.

Everyone praises Get Out, which is great but Nope is definitely my favorite of his so far.

It was so cool to watch this movie in IMAX. Truly a spectacle. I think Steven Yeun's character thought he could relate to the alien because in his past experience with the monkey, he got the fist bump of approval. However, I don't think he realized the tablecloth covering his eyes on the set protected him from looking the monkey in the eye and inciting aggression. So actually, the fist bump was a fluke. 😅

what i enjoy the most about this is the gordy story is a one to one of what happens in this movie, a wild animal that should be left alone, a crowd being drawn to it, and what can go wrong. and how people will make a spectacle of it at the end of the day(i.e the shoe) which i think is basically the cloud. something off. something odd. people will notice.

I like that they never really confirm that this was an alien from space, it could just be some undetected earth creature since it still hunts like earth animals
