I recall an interview with Bruce shortly after this video came out. He said he'd gotten a call from his childhood piano teacher. Her comment: "Your hand position is excellent".

Love Bruce Hornsby. I grew up in the same neighborhood as his family. His niece was on our rec swim team, and he would come to cheer for our meets every now and then. Genuinely nice people. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Reportedly, the label told Bruce they liked the song but didn't want a piano solo because it wouldn't sell. So he put in two piano solos! What a great example of a piece of music actually manifesting the message of the song and rejecting someone telling you 'that's just the way it is'!
