Always good to get a Writer to interview a Writer. Makes such a difference to the narrative.

Great interview! I am reminded of Chandler's quote, “If my books had been any worse, I should not have been invited to Hollywood, and if they had been any better, I should not have come.”

For me, A Time To Kill was the only book I loved and felt very different to his later books.

Interesting how they both loved John Le Carre.
I read The Spy Who Came In From the Cold in the early 70’s which got me hooked.
By the time Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy came out I had read all his novels to date.
Then I would wait for the next one.
As he grew older I treasured each new novel as it could have been his last.
When he died I struggled to find an author to replace him.
Strangely it was Richard’s The Thursday Murder Club and I now look forward to each new book from both his series.
They are not at the same level as Le Carre but there are little echoes.
When I found out Richard’s love of Le Carre it made sense.

One of my favorite movies is the adaptation of The Pelican Brief with Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington. No matter how many times I watched it I always completely forget the plot. Yet, after every viewing I say: That is so clever!
