  In my country (Czechia), a famous psychiatrist was convicted this year for 39 cases of SA against his patients he committed in the last 40 years. Why did it take 40 years to even get this case to the police? He had connections.

  Also, dear men, you&apos;re more likely to be a victim of SA than be falsely accused of SA. Me too is your issue too.

  I often forget that women couldn&apos;t even have a bank account by themselves until the 70s in my country. 50 years ago. <br>Every time I&apos;m reminded it&apos;s honestly kind of terrifying. Just half a life time ago we were essentially property. Laws may have changed, but this mindset still lives in so many people. And I worry about how many steps we will take backwards.

  I’m a survivor of DV and even though I almost didn’t survive leaving was one of the hardest and most terrifying thing I ever did. So many people say things like “if it’s so bad just leave” they have no idea how hard that really is to do. Especially if you are a disabled person financially dependent on your partner. I’ve been free since 2011 and I’m thankful to you for speaking about this.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMBYQdSaY8k&amp;t=388">6:28</a> PSA— If anyone has been (or suspects they have been) str*ngled, PLEASE see your doctor, even if you do not plan on reporting to the police. Anoxia can cause brain damage very quickly, sometimes causing permanent neurological/cognitive impairment. You may not realize until much later that your health symptoms are related to the str*ngulation. <br><br>Please see your doctor so at the very least there is an official record around the time of the event. Your doctor may encourage you to report to police the cannot and will not force you (except in cases of mandated reporting—look into or ask about that if you are concerned). If you decide to report later, it will be so so imperative to have these medical records, even if the record only shows the conversation with your doctor. You may need a CT scan, MRI, or more testing/imaging. Don’t wait; if it happened a while ago, call your doctor anyway and discuss it. You are worth it. 💜

  Just a fun story about NFFS- I used to be an ER doctor here in the UK, and had a young woman come in after NFFS by her boyfriend. The “fun” part is that she was wearing a polo neck sweater, and when I got her to take it off, she had petechial haemorrhages (tiny red dots where tiny blood vessels have burst due to increased blood pressure)- in a pattern that precisely mirrored the weave of the knitted rollneck. I pointed this out to police officers, who photographed it.<br>A few months later, in court- this was Scotland where the law is significantly different to England- and by chance, the judge allocated to the case was very old fashioned, complete with massive handlebar moustache and thick half moon glasses.<br>I was questioned by the prosecution lawyer- “Were these marks on her neck consistent with strangulation?”- I said yes. “Were they consistent with any other method of injury or accident?”- no. “Were they consistent with the defendant’s story that he held her by the neck in self defence?”- I pointed out that placing both hands on someone’s throat put you very close to them, while leaving both their hands free to attack you, and that it was an aggressive move, not a defensive one.<br>The prosecution lawyer sat down. The defence lawyer stood up.<br>The judge told him to sit down. He tried to argue, saying he hadn’t had chance to ask me any questions. <br>“SIT DOWN MR MCKINLEY” bellowed the judge. He sat down.<br>The judge signalled for the court officer to take the defendant into custody.<br>That was it- the judge just flatly refused to hear the defence.<br>Guilty as charged, taken straight to prison.<br>Result!

  This is a huge problem in Finland as well, and the government has recently decided on austerity measures that severely impacts the financing of organizations that work to end violence against women. I hope this video reaches a lot of people.

  The funniest thing with Poland and patriarchy and Catholicism is that our birth rate is rapidly approaching 1 and everyone is like &quot;huuuuuhhhh whatever can be the reason?&quot;. Sure the real estate market sucks and the loans are the most expensive in EU by a lot, but it’s funny to observe those men on the tv talking about it constantly while never touching the subject of men being, in general, insanely traditional, while women getting far more educated and excelling in job market. Like, my guys, polish women are very smart, and they increasingly do not want polish men.
