Saying S1E2 has just a few pop-culture references, and then immediately giving the showrunners credit for the dream-hopping idea while completely ignoring that it’s a full-blown reference to Inception, is an interesting take 😂.

Rick being overpowered never bothers me because I’m not invested in the idea any of the main characters are in mortal danger. I’m here for the emotional stakes between the characters and the improvisational and inventive feel, so the fact Rick can effortlessly mow down goons is fine provided he’s constantly doing it in new fun ways, which I think he is. The fact he’s a god is fine to me, it would be an issue if he could resolve this mental health issues that easily but he can’t and that makes how powerful he is even funnier.

In season 6 the episode where Jerry is going to sleep with his mom is a direct parody of the greek myth of Oedipus which in it an oracle(fortune cookie) tells Oedipus(jerry) he is going to sleep with his mom so he does everything in his power not to , but that just leads him to doing it. Not saying it makes the episode any less weird, but that is where the concept comes from.

3:50, they do have the capabilities to interdimensionally travel via portals, however, they want rick for his portal gun because its quicker and easier than the customs they have to do

At 49:37, I also think it’s funny that it seems that because this universe has the best ice cream in all of the multiverse and the spiders only wanted to be able to enjoy it. So when they get back the treaty makes it so that there are flies in the ice cream.

Fun fact about the giant sperm episode, it was apparently the result of a bet among the writing staff. I'm not sure of the specifics of the bet, but I'm guessing the bet was they had to make something involving giant sperm monsters, horse people, and an incest baby. Thus this episode was born.
