A Birding Safari in Kruger National Park | Skukuza | Part I

Join us birding in Kruger National Park as we explore Skukuza Rest Camp and the Sabie River, searching for incredible birdlife and wildlife on a relaxed safari journey. Day 1 of our Kruger National Park birding adventure begins at Malelane Gate in the southern Kruger. From the moment we enter, the excitement builds as we start spotting birds and wildlife on our way to Skukuza, where we’ll be based for the next two nights. Along the way, we stop at Afsaal Picnic Site, a classic Kruger break spot, before continuing deeper into the park. Once we arrive at Skukuza Rest Camp, we take some time to explore the area on foot, enjoy the views, and get a feel for the heart of Kruger. After setting up camp, we head out again to visit the Skukuza Nursery and finish the day at the iconic Lake Panic Bird Hide, one of the best birding locations in the park. Day 2 takes us along one of the most productive birding routes in Kruger, the Sabie River. We make our way towards Lower Sabie Rest Camp, keeping an eye out for both woodland and water associated species along the riverbanks. A stop at Nkulu Picnic Site gives us a chance to slow down and take in the surroundings, but things quickly heat up when we encounter a classic Kruger traffic jam, at a lion sighting. After spending time at Lower Sabie, we continue birding around the camp before heading to Sunset Dam, another well-known hotspot for birdlife and photography.
