Ive been riding since 1994... always wanted a DJ... never did it and just raced mtb, road, and bmx. I just bought one on Sunday and its one of the best times ive had on a bike.

Nick, I believe you really have to spend a lot of time on the Dirtjumper to achieve the progress you're looking for. Switching between different bikes may slow down your short-term progress, but in the long run, you will benefit from it. Good video btw 馃憤

You need 3 bikes,, an enduro mullet, Dj and hybrid commuter.

Like everything else in biking: it depends. If you actually want to ride some distance and/or some trails, absolutely get a hardtail like this. If you just want to ride skatepark, pump tracks and dirt jumps, then a true DJ will be way better than bigger wheels.

Dirt jumpers have helped my mtn bike riding tremendously. Especially airtime and hitting jumps with very tall/steep lips. I ride the bike and hit dirt jumps all the time as a result of getting a DJ.

I used to keep a DJ at my office and I would just go out and mess around on it during lunch breaks. Practicing manuals and bunny-hops on it accelerated my mountain biking skills more than regular trail riding ever could. If you think of a DJ as a training tool, it's definitely worth it. Thinking that you can only use a dirt jumper for dirt jumping is a little unimaginative. I mean, I was 40 years old and getting chased out of mall parking lots like I was a teenager. How funny is that? 馃槄

If you have one with a front brake, it's almost like having a trials bike. You can practice all sorts of stuff on it. I'm quite good a stoppies and fakies now鈥攕omething that never would have happened without the DJ. And I can hop onto sheer ledges up to 2 feet tall or so. I can even do thing where you set the front tire up on a ledge then stoppie with the front brake to pop the rear tire up, then release the brake to bring the rear tire forward onto the ledge. I don't even know what that's called but being able to do it feels awesome! I definitely benefited greatly from having one.

Though I did end up getting rid of it. But not because it wasn't fun and useful.

That being said, I do agree that a sized-down hardtail could provide similar benefits. I'd probably want to go two sizes down, though. 馃

Not having dirt jumps was the only reason I never got one but our town recently opened a dirt jump park so I think it鈥檚 time

I use a cross-country hardtail with the saddle adjusted to a low position, a 35mm length stem, and Maxxis Torch tires for pump track sessions. I ride to and from the track on the same bike, which also serves my daily commuting needs in urban areas. The setup provides versatility across different uses without sacrificing practicality

Agree especially on the confirmation aspect. But even with my limited skills, a dj is on Pumptracks, parking lots, and skate parks so much more fun!
