  I had quit bmx for 10 yrs for mtb and dj's. Once I hit 40. I came back to bmx and soley ride bmx. Having a blast again on a 20 and regret quitting. Bmx isnt for everyone, but I reapect the mtb/dj world. Great video by the way.👏

  Most people I know grew up on a 20"bmx not a dirt jumper maybe I'm just old . I don't even think dirt jumpers were invented when I started riding.

  I prefer dirt jumpers, its the perfect mix of two different cycling sports; mtb and bmx

  I had a difficult decision which one to choose as a second bike as a cheap spare bike, the main one is a full-sus for mountains. I used to skateboard when I was young and went with bmx for simplicity and some kind of skateboardish feeling. And now I vole it! The best thing for me is that everything is a spot, because I live in a major city and steet is everywhere ,lot of skateparks and pumptracks. Very nice!

  I come from 30 years of just BMX, mostly street/park. I own a DJ now too, and an Enduro for the mountains. It should be obvious but, BMX is a whole set of categories within the broader term BMX. While Dirt Jumpers are a specific evolution of Mountain Bikes, although they really blur the line between a Mountainbike and a BMX, which is neat because in the 90&apos;s and early 00&apos;s a Dirt Jumper was actually just a BMX with no pegs, usually just a rear brake, more aggressive knobby tires, and blended the geometry of Race BMX with the Chromoly of Park/Freestyle. The Dirt Jump MTB wasnt really a thing yet, and even after a couple brands like Specialized introduced the purpose built P3 it still was referred to as just another Hardtail Mountainbike. The Geometry was still pretty tied to the Mountainbike world, along with alot of older standards like weird dropouts, chainguides, Mountainbike threaded Bottom Brackets, and too slack of geometry. BMX on the other hand, has had some pretty core standards for a long time, the bikes of the early 00&apos;s are very similar to the BMX bikes you see today, however the distinction between disciplines is mostly just that its either a Race BMX or it isnt. <br>Companies like S&amp;M are still putting out frames that are geared more towards an old school Slacker Dirt feel, but for the most part Street/Park kind of dominates BMX on the non racing end of it. Which isnt a bad thing, it seems over the years that Geometry has been refined and agreed upon so much that theres very little variation needed anymore, bikes just feel good for most terrain at this point, even most Street oriented frames feel capable on Dirt, Heck Ryan Nyquist has been riding the Haro La Bastille Matthias Dandois Flatland/street frame for a while now (Despite being an absolute legend himself with a legacy of signature &quot;Backtrail&quot; frames) And Ryan rides everything, big park setups, and dirt. Now if Matthias can ride Flatland on it, at a gold medal level (he has alot of them) on the same bike, it really shows how diverse riding can get on essentially the same geometry that also works for Ryan on big jumps and dirt. <br>I really am enjoying ripping it up on my own P3 these days at the local pumptrack and dirt jumps, I never dirt jumped as a kid as we had no where to build them, really one of those communities where the only forest type areas were either other peoples property or town owned trails that would dismantle most of our attempts to even build jumps. Where I am now theres a big city funded dirt park with dauntingly professional jumps and a couple easier ones (Stevie Smith Memorial Park, Nanaimo, BC) and that stuffs fun, its helped me improve at my new love of riding big mountain stuff on the Enduro, but I still will haul my aging butt to the skatepark with the BMX too and rip some ramps and put the pegs to work. <br>Its all just riding bikes, and any bikes is just fun, I vote for everyone to have both a BMX and a DJ, but if you can only have one, base it off what you have to ride, if &nbsp;you have a good big dirt jump and pump track setup, the DJ might be better, but if you also have alot of skateparks really close to you, the BMX might be the better bet, it also can be somewhat based on your age and what you&apos;ve grown up with, if your over 20 and never rode BMX at all, maybe look at getting a used DJ off marketplace, I&apos;ve seen P3&apos;s go for 500 bucks, the might not a bit of TLC, but they are super solid even when compared to a high end BMX, my BSD all aftermarket build was way more expensive than my P3, and the P3 holds its own even at the skatepark once in a while. I think alot of people that do ride DJ for a bit but have access to a variety of concrete skateparks and have a good city/town to ride street in would greatly benefit from also having a BMX, but be prepared to replace parts if you think the 500 dollar BMX is a good deal. Theres lots of entry level stuff that gets you out at the skatepark, but many of them really lack the durability of higher end stuff, remember theres no suspension on them, and they are primarily riding on concrete, rims, cranks, forks, frames, bars really let you know the old saying &quot;You get what you pay for&quot; is alive and well.

  I ride bmx to 200mm dh bikes and everything in between except DJ bikes. Fun to mess around on but always thought they looked dumb and were more awkward to do stuff on. Feel like everything a DJ can do, a bmx can do and look miles better

  Bmx if you focus on street/park, dj if you mostly ride pumptrack or mellow dirtjumps. Dj bikes are also easier to switch back and forth with ‘real’ mountainbikes.

  Starting biking as an adult it was enough of a transition going from MTB to DJ! Haven’t got up the courage to try a BMX bike seriously… but I like the idea of it! Great vid! 🎉

  The only good thing about bmx, is the frame will never break. Ive bent 2 frames just this month, an old dj and a xc bike

  if you want to try bmx coming from a dj or mtb i highly recomend a dirt or trails specific frame geometry. nowadays bmx geometry on most bmx bikes are too short because of the popularity of street riding, those bikes are too unstable for big jumps or rough terrain because of the top tube lenght, bottom bracket height and headtube angle, and tend to bail you out if you land on your rear wheel because of the short chainstays. i´ve swap to a 21.5&quot; top tube , 14&quot; chainstays and low bb frame and i can´t go back, insane difference. very similar to bmx race geometry but a little shorter chainstays and taller bars make them much more playful without being too twitchy
