Back in the late 80s I worked with a dallas guitarist who knew Marc Benno. <br>He said that once Marc mentioned "The Doors checks weren't huge, but they covered the mortgage payment month in and month out."<br><br>Which is the dream of most working musicians 🙌🙏

I was shocked to hear Robbie Krieger did not perform bass duties at all on recordings. Often guitarists do that.

I was just reading Carol Kaye’s diary that she puts on Facebook. She wrote about a long-haired singer high on coke who fired her from a session because she didn’t play to his liking. She said the singer later died from drugs.

Great video! As a Doors freak--I still have the original albums I bought back then--I appreciate the work you put into this!

My friend Kerry Magness played bass on The Unknown Soldier. He was also in The Kingsmen (Louie Louie). He grew up in Yakima, WA with a guy named Jeff Simmons, who later was part of the original Mothers of Invention with Frank Zappa. He remained friendly with Ray Manzarek, and we ran into him on The Santa Monica Promenade once around 2003. Ray spotted him from a block away (Kerry was 6'8"), and came running over. I got to meet a Door!

As a Door fan, and a Bass player,I loved this, never delved into the history of who played bass on the recordings, guess I just figured it was Ray. Great stuff!
