I want to shout out the Alinea crew for some of the amazing “take/make at home” kits they did during the pandemic. This included a DIY version of the iconic table dessert. I’ve never had so much fun “plating” food!

If memory serves, during the time the Grant lost his sense of taste/smell, he leaned heavily on his sous chef to try everything. That level of trust, for someone at Grant's level, is pretty incredible and special.

I've seen a lot of really jaded and cynical fine dining enthusiasts really become critical of Alinea in the last few years; it feels like a really popular punching bag for people to prove how discerning they are by loudly proclaiming, "Oh, Alinea isn't even good."<br><br>I went there for the first time last year and had a fabulous meal. I think it's still a top tier restaurant and I'm glad to see that you enjoyed it too. It's inventive and theatrical but I never thought for a second that they were sacrificing taste for the sake of a gimmick. If I have any one complaint it's maybe that they lean a little too hard on truffles but at the same time, hey, it's delicious.

I live in Chicago and ate at Alinea some years ago. I think your review is similar to the experience I had. They are incredibly consistent even as they go through constant change. It is certainly worth at least a one time visit, if you can manage it. Also, we were all very grateful for the outcome Grant Achatz experienced with his tongue cancer. It was a shocking diagnosis at the time. Thank you.

I was there in 2011. I ate at Moto, Trotters and the Peninsula that week. I had huge expectations of all of them but especially Moto. It was the first of my meals and I can’t tell you how disappointed with the whole experience. Next up was the Peninsula and it was good but nothing rememberable. Up next was Trotters of which I dined at in the 90’s. It felt very different, worn , tired. Still it was a very good meal and experience. And then…. I walked into Alinea and immediately was drenched into hospitality perfection! The amount of detail , knowledge, warmth and excitement was everywhere. It truly was at another level then anything I’d ever experienced. The food was Instagram ready before Instagram. Every dish had a story and it all made sense. There were two dishes that were forgettable: the swinging bacon and the raspberry glass. That said though everything else was so amazing ! I opted for the wine pairings and I have to say that never have dishes been so well paired. Of all the kitchens of that progressive era of cooking Alinea and the Fat Duck have transcended time and become truly classics. Happy to see them going strong!

His story reminds me of Alicia Alonso, the ballerina that became partially blind but she kept dancing and teaching. I myself am not able to to smell for 95% of the time and was not able to smell or taste at all for a while, so I was focussed on how the food felt in my mouth instead of smell or taste. Also hearing the crunch and looking at its colors. What an inspiring story and amazing review again!

As I'm watching this, I'm dining on my Applebee's grilled chicken Asian salad, pretending that I'm sitting next to him eating the same thing as he is.

What I absolutely love about this channel and why I actually can believe his reviews is that Alexander is completely honest. Most other people on YouTube would be all "IT IS THE BEST FOOD EVER" on every dish, while he actually gives a critique if he doesn't like something, even though he eats in one of the most acclaimed restaurants in the world. Shows something about both his integrity and that even the best-of-the-best can't be absolutely perfect in everything

Went here 2 weeks ago and loved it. Felt the most special of all the Michelin dinners I’ve had.
