Germany’s Legal Cannabis Experiment: 2 Years Later Two years ago, we traveled to Germany as the country opened the door to legal cannabis. Back then, everything felt new. Home growers were stepping out of the shadows, social clubs were still mostly an idea, and people across the country were trying to understand what legalization would actually mean in real life. Now we’re back. In this follow-up documentary, Home Grow TV returns to Germany to ask one simple question: Is legal cannabis in Germany actually working two years later? We revisit Ganja Patient, a passionate home grower who lived through prohibition and now represents what legal home grow can mean for everyday people. We return to White Lake Berlin, which we first visited when it was still a proof of concept. Two years later, Mario and the team have turned that vision into a licensed cultivation association serving real members under Germany’s new legal framework. Then we head into Mary Jane Berlin 2026, where more than 75,000 people came together across four days, making it one of the biggest cannabis gatherings on the planet. There, we meet growers, creators, entrepreneurs, breeders, brands, and community members from around the world to get a better sense of where Germany’s cannabis movement is heading. This trip turned into less of a political deep dive and more of a people-first story — home growers, social clubs, community, culture, and the energy around one of the most important cannabis markets in Europe. Germany’s system is legal on paper, complicated in real life, and still being fought over. The answer is not simple. And that’s exactly why we came back.
