Thank you both for such a great video ❤
CDB more demos! Love that really nice to get a visual even if it's without the ball 😅

Your videos would be a lot more interesting if you were filming on an actual bowling lane. Demonstrating the techniques you are talking about is much better than just talking about them. Thanks for sharing your tips on bowling 🎳

The mechanics are a kinetic chain. I think of it like a whip or a snake coiling and then uncoiling and striking. The arm has to be in a strong position. It has to coil and uncoil. This is what produces power. If the arm is straight, it can not do so. Imagine a baseball pitcher trying to throw a ball with a straight arm. Their speed and spin rate would implode. The kinetic chain works from the ground up in a wave. This is how it works in all sports where you throw a ball. Having some bend in that elbow, and the wrist cupped, is a must as it allows the uncoiling to happen like a wave, whip, or a chain where energy is transferred from one link to another. That is what I mean by a strong arm position. If your arm is in a weak position as you are dropping it into the swing , it is almost impossible to get it into a strong position on the forward and release part of the swing. The thumb is a good indicator. When you drop the ball into your swing at the start of your approach and the tip of your thumb is pointing down towards the ground, it will come back down in the same fashion, which is an indicator that your arm is in a weak position. If your elbow is slightly bent, wrist cupped, the tip of the thumb will be facing towards the pins, not towards the ground. That is a strong position. The best example is E.J. Tackett. His kinetic chain is the best in bowling. His rev rate and speed is insane. You do not have to be a two hander to generate that kind of power. Take into account that he is a tiny guy, and he is the best bowler in the world, and it is not really even close between him and everyone else.

It's a Gremlin! Great tip about the helper hand! Going to incorporate that into my game.
@alexmerel9924 · 1 month ago (edited)
Rev rate is acceleration thru release point not a side turn of the hand thats different degrees of axis rotation thats a turn of the wrist or hand thats not rev rate you can rev the heck out of it but be end over end aka simo when hes playing very shallow angles

My issue I think is I’m squeezing to try to hold the ball. I feel like I’m losing the ball early
@SirJoelsuf1 · 1 day ago
I'm gonna eventually watch/listen to this, but I wanna say something before watching and that is that speed is NOT more important than RPMs. In order for a ball to collide with the rack in a way that knocks them all down, it has to enter at an angle. Take away that angle, and you ONLY have deflection. It's why a 77 year old lady who is 4'9'' and 80 lbs soaking wet can throw an 11lb ball at 10mph and still strike while a jacked 37 year old ex football player can hurl a 16 lb ball directly at the pocket at 23mph and still 5-7-10. It's because the senior bowler, while throwing it ultra slow, still has angle. The ex football player doesn't have that.

Yes, I'm using real examples here. This is something I've seen in league a couple times.

Started bowling in 1976. I have always had late timing. If I speed my feet up my arm swing does not speed up or change. It only makes my timing even later. I also have a very low backswing.

What am I doing wrong?

This is my pre-statement before watching. I will watch but this is my unsolicited opinion so to say. Balanced bowling is just as important. Many and I mean mean of amateur two-handers have way more hook than the speed they need to throw, especially after the shot is broken in and they just hammer through the face or brooklyn all not and cant figure out why. But then you have guys that have 100rpm and want to throw 21 mph and cant understand why their ball don't hook. I agree if you are going to lean towards one side, speed is likely better. But I think a well balance is best. Many two-handers are all about making the biggest curve they can, thinking that is the entire key to striking. I am a tweener down and in and I would like more of both but I have had perfect games in my life. You don't need the biggest fook or fastest ball to carry.. Ok now I will watch. I think I am the first comment!

Love the content. 😍😍 Might be wrong but I take 5 steps I cant go between 3-5 like a few. But I find moving up on aproach I naturally shorten my stride and have to take smaller steps to ot cross the foul line and my brain works it out. (Most the time) That makes me slower and will knock around 1 mph off my normal approach and likewise, if I step back 12-18 inches, my five steps are larger and it naturally speeds my ball up. Also, I take a small first step everytime no matter. If you take a long first step, your body automatic make your shoulders go forward of your body to compensate for your feet going forward from under your body. So if you take a small step first, you keep your shoulders over your hips or slightly forward not a lot forward and it helps set the timing. A large first step makes it harder to keep your body and arms in time with your feet.
Correct me if I am telling lies. I am no pro but I am around a 200 average. I would be better if not for m and all that any bad joints and titanium joints not letting me get in a proper form. I cant get my hip clear and down on one leg and bring the ball an inch by my left ankle. But that's okay. I just do what I can to be as consistent as possible.

I like the helper hand idea. I think I do do that but not sure as much as I should. Never heard anyone emphasize it. I will have to think about it more when on approach.
I was told to think of the thumb more like steering than gripping. I think I need to work on loosening my grip. I do not knuckle it or squeeze the daylights out of it but sometimes I know I am squeezing more than I should. I need to really work on the yo you tech better. I might need to step down in weight pound or at least until I get the hang of it. More consistently. Also a reason wrist brace and positioners are a bad Idea unless you really need them.

He just figured out the proper way to grip with the base of the thumb and not the knuckle. That average is going to climb fast. Great video guys, sorry if I interacted to much. I really like to follow along and input a comment as I watch. Makes me feel like we are sitting down together talking bowling.

PS. I think a great topic would be sliding vs planting. I slide but if I was to start over, I would learn to plant. I think it gives more consistency bowling from center to center. Sliding might make a bit more power but it would be interesting to weigh the pluses and minuses of the two.

Is ball speed measured at the release or at the pins at league play
@AlwaysInjuredBowling · 1 month ago (edited)
I am talented enough that I can alter my speed by two mph and rev rate from 300-500.
