The anti-vegetables thing always personally gets me because I LOVE vegetables and gardening, cooking, and supporting my local farmers lol. I know she’s not attacking me personally but I’m always like “leave the vegetables alone!!!!!” When I see that clip😂

"you don't owe anyone health"<br>... That blew me away. You owe it to yourself.

“Look at disabled people” please leave us alone and out of this, we have our own problems. Using a community purely as a talking point to further your own agenda is not allyship.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCYII2Z2eTY&t=2406">40:06</a> I love this point, that it's incredibly unfair that the fat acceptance movement makes overweight women feel like they need to stay overweight to protect the delicate feelings of other people, instead of protecting their health and actually living their best life.

Yes, cutting a smaller piece of cake is SUPER labor intensive 🙄. Her dislike of vegetables is almost phobic. For someone who preaches that people should eat what they want, she seems to have caveats to that (I.e. eat what you want as long as it’s fat laden or full of sugar).

Virgie Tovar's take on fat oppression is like when Eric Cartman wrote Christian Rock lyrics by crossing out the words "baby" and "darling" in other people's songs and writing in "Jesus"' .

As a chubby disabled teenager, I fell into the body positivity community online, which funneled me into the fat acceptance community. I completely internalized their messaging and developed a fear of being weighed at the doctor, and stopped paying any attention to what I ate, lest I develop a restrictive ED. Over my 20s I gained over 100lbs and my autoimmune disease got so out of control I was on over 15 different medications, completely depressed and anxious and mentally unwell. I finally got therapy and started to get help for my childhood trauma, and then began working on my phyiscal health by exercising. I learned I couldn’t actually eat better and it would help me lose weight, and it might help my my condition, but I resisted it for years because I thought that WANTING to lose weight would mean i was fatphobic and didn’t love myself. I finally realized that putting my fears about how other people would react about my weight loss over my own life and well-being was no worth and it and I started eating in a slight calorie deficit one year ago. I’ve steadily lost weight the entire time and now I am a healthy BMI for the first time in my adult life. My disease is close to remission levels and my doctor is actually stunned. I was so afraid to post about my journey on social medical because I had so many body positive friends but I thought maybe they would understand me, and be supportive and happy that my rheumatoid arthritis was finally under control. I anxiously began sharing about my workouts and stuff online and all of the people I used to be friends with slowly stopped speaking to me or messaged me telling me what I was doing was fatphobic and shitting on my fat friends. It was so hard to go through the experience but I was lucky my partner stuck by me and I had channels like yours and Kayla Shaye, and Sam at Every Size encouraging me to keep going and that I was doing the right thing. My disability is now improved significantly from losing weight and to say otherwise would be such a lie. I wish they would understand that I want to share in order to help anyone else who used to feel hopeless like me.

The thing about dieting is it shouldn't be a diet...it should be a commitment and a lifestyle adjustment. People mad at vegetables need to calm down

Her bashing diets or calling them "a sign of woundedness" is so short-sighted. Many people have to diet for all kinds of health reasons: inflammatory conditions, food intolerances, metabolic illnesses, diabetes, hormone issues... and yes, that is a sign of strength. It's hard, it's frustrating, but you still do it for your health. Having to explain that or even being accused of masking an ED is so tiring. If a person refuses that cake, just accept it.

My mental health treatment definitely made it possible for me to lose weight.<br><br>I'm nearly down 200 pounds and it's been nice.<br><br>Being 350 pounds was miserable, tbh. Being super morbidly obese was disabling, painful, exhausting, and caused me to develop type 2 diabetes.<br><br>I'm so much happier now.

Your comment that it feels anti feminist to place the burden on women to not post “triggering content” due to their friends issues with weight and weight loss is spot on. Once again, it’s the responsibility of a woman to limit her self expression and behavior to make others more comfortable. How is this any different then a woman who silences herself to not make a man mad. To make sure that she’s liked. Woman to woman invalidation is a real issue. You are so right. You could probably explain it better, but it’s a real issue. Stop silencing a woman who wishes to celebrate things that are important to her.
