There is a difference between a fusion reactor for the purpose of creating energy (what most people think of) and a fusion reactor for scientific purposes. I worked in a lab that was testing out lithium metal circulation along the chamber walls to increase reproduction, and I&apos;ve also worked with a fusion reactor that was designed to create neutrons for neutron activation and had no mechanism to create power out of it. ITER, my labs lithium wall fusion reactor, and the neutron activation reactor are all fusion reactors in the sense that they are reactors for fission reactions. In regards to the $2000 student reactor, just looking at it, it seems to be similar to the small test reactors I worked on in my lab, and not one for power generation. Hope this adds some context!
